Our Story
Robotics Unbound is a student-led initiative that introduces young students (from ages 7 to 12) to robotics and programming through engaging workshops.
We are a team of high school and university students working in collaboration with community service organisations across Singapore to share our passion and interest for science, robotics, and programming with those who may not have had the opportunity to discover theirs.
Established in 2016, a group SJI International students realised that socioeconomic inequalities impacted the quality of STEM education that students had access to. This in turn, could impact their technological proficiency and the job opportunities they had access to.
Recognising this problem, we developed a solution to acquaint children from less privileged backgrounds with fundamental robotics and programming skills. We hope this will put them in better stead for a fast-evolving society that is increasingly dominated by science and technology.
Using approachable robotics kits and programming software such as LEGO WeDo2.0 and Scratch, we aspire to give every student an opportunity to discover their passion for robotics or programming and help them realise that such skills are well within their reach. We have secured sponsorship of robotics kits through SJII, LEGO, and Duck Learning (Singapore Science Center), whilst collaborating with organisations such as Codue and Makers Empire to expand our curriculum.
Since its establishment, Robotics Unbound has expanded and grown its operations with the help of a team of dedicated volunteers, eager to share their passion for science. Over the years, we have been able to reach students from all over Singapore and have collaborated with numerous community service organisations including Yayasan Mendaki, Touch Young Arrows and more.
